Srinagar, January 4: An unspecified number of terrorists on Saturday hurled a grenade at troops of the Central Reserve Police Force in Jammu and Kashmir. The grenade attack took place in Kawdara area of old Srinagar. The grenade exploded near a transformer, news agency ANI reported. No loss of life was reported. Nissar Ahmad Dar, who hails from Wahab Parray Mohalla at Hajin, was arrested in Srinagar on Saturday morning. He was in the wanted list of security forces. According to reports, Dar was caught alive in an operation launched on Friday night by the security forces. An associate of Salim Parray, a top terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba, Dar was reportedly planning to carry out an attack on some security force establishment. Dar is allegedly involved in as many as eight cases. He was detained twice under Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) -- first time in 2016 and then in 2017. "Dar is an associate of Salim Parray, who is a top terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba in North Kashmir, and earlier escaped from an encounter in which a Pakistani terrorist of Lashkar outfit was killed at Kulan Ganderbal on November 12, 2019," a senior police officer told IANS.
According to security forces, a cordon and search operation was launched following inputs that a listed and wanted dreaded terrorist was hiding somewhere in Srinagar. During the operation, security forces managed to nab Dar alive. He was being interrogated.
