Kulgam, July 27: One civilian and a security guard have been injured after terrorists barged into Jammu and Kashmir bank in Kulgam district. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. The terrorists came with the intention to loot the bank. However, they did not succeed in their mission, and no cash loot is reported from the bank. The police have started probing the incident.
Earlier in the day, unidentified persons also snatched 12 bore rifle from the security guard of Jammu and Kashmir bank in Shopian. It is the second weapon snatching incident reported from Shopian in the last 24 hours.
On May 18, two terrorists looted around Rs 3,28,000 from a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Kulgam. In similar incident in March, terrorists looted cash from a J&K bank manager in Kapran village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Last year, there were a series of bank robberies in Kashmir, and a majority of them targeted J&K Bank. After demonetisation, the bank loot incidents in the Kashmir Valley have increased.
