The video of Manzoor's killing went viral on the social media, drawing sharp reactions from netizens and political parties alike. "Another dastardly killing of a young man, and this time the terrorists slit his throat. This barbarism has no place in our society. No struggle, no matter how lofty the claims to justify it, can condone this inhuman behaviour," former chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.

According to the family, Manzoor was summoned by terrorists on Thursday, following which he went to meet them on their own. Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir kill people suspected of being police informers to warn others against helping security forces.
