Shopian, October 11: In another incident of a terror attack in the Kashmir Valley, terrorists killed a civilian in Shopian. Police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the case. Earlier in the day, two terrorists were killed in Handwara encounter. A large amount of arms and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists.  One of the terrorists were identified as Manan Wani,  an Aligarh Muslim University scholar who joined Hizbul Mujaheedin in January. 

The operation is still underway. Due to the encounter, internet services have been suspended in the area, and educational institutes have also been closed. On October 5, terrorists opened fire on three political workers at Karfari Mohalla in Srinagar. Two National Conference (NC) workers were killed in the shooting, and one was injured in the firing. Meanwhile, the NC and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had already announced to boycott the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state.

Today, an Indian Army jawan was injured when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire and resorted to firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Krishnagati sector at 9.30 pm Wednesday night. The injured soldier was evacuated to a military hospital and is out of danger. Till now 181 terrorists were killed in encounters in the valley, while 74 security personnel lost their lives.
