Baramulla, October 13: Pakistan on Sunday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla. An Indian Army personnel was martyred in the ceasefire violation. Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Uri sector on Indian posts. According to reports, the jawan was initially injured in the ceasefire violation. However, after he was taken to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. On October 11, Indian Army soldier Subash Thapa was also martyred in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Nowshera sector. Thapa was taken to the command hospital where he succumbed to injuries. His mortal remains were brought to his hometown Bagdogra in West Bengal on Sunday.

Recently reports surfaced that Ceasefire violations by Pakistan witnessed a five-year high within the first nine months of the current year. Pakistan violated ceasefire 2,317 times in 2019 till October 10 along the LoC and the International Border (IB). According to Indian Army sources, 147 terrorists have been killed in different operations by the security forces.
