Srinagar, July 31: At least four civilians were wounded after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Pakistani troops have been firing at Indian positions in the Tangdhar sector since Tuesday. The India Army retaliated to the Pakistani aggression effectively.
On Tuesday, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Sunderbani area which expanded to Tangdhar and Karen sectors. A soldier, Naik Krishan Lal, was martyred in the firing. The Indian Army effectively retaliated and gunned down two Pakistani soldiers. For the last three days, Pakistan has been continuously violating the ceasefire.
"In the exchange of fire, 34-year-old Naik Krishan Lal attained martyrdom. He belonged to Ghagriyal village, Akhnoor Tehsil of Jammu district and is survived by his wife, Shashi Devi. Naik Krishan Lal was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty," the Indian Army said in a statement.
"Heavy damage to Pak Army posts and casualties to Pak soldiers have been inflicted by own troops," the statement said. On Sunday, three civilians including a 10-day-old baby sustained injuries in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan. The baby succumbed to his injuries yesterday. Pakistan army had violated the ceasefire in Shahpur and Saujiyan sectors of Poonch district at around 5 pm.
As many as six soldiers have lost their lives due to unprovoked firing by Pakistan along the LoC while 1,593 ceasefire violations have taken place this year.
