Srinagar, August 7: Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani Sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir late on Wednesday. The firing began at around 10:15 pm. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply to Pakistan's aggression. The cross-border skirmish was underway at the time of filing this report. According to reports, civilian areas were targetted by Pakistani soldiers. However, there are no reports of any casualties. More details are still awaited. It is the second incident of ceasefire violation in the last two days after the Narendra Modi government scrapped the special status from Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

On August 6, Pakistan resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing from small arms along the Line of Control (LoC) in the same sector. in the cross-border skirmish which took place for almost two hours, the Indian Army retaliated strongly. Earlier in July, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, had said that Pakistan violated ceasefire for 1,248 times in last six months along the LoC.
Last week, Indian forces foiled an infiltration bid by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The BAT attempt had taken place on the intervening night of July 31 and August 1. Around 5-7 infiltrators were gunned down by the Indian security forces.
