Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistan Violates Ceasefire In Poonch Sector, Indian Army Retaliates

Srinagar, January 5: In yet another ceasefire violation on Saturday, the Pakistani Army resorted to mortar shelling and has been violating ceasefire intermittently in Poonch sector since last 48 hours. According to a tweet by ANI, the security forces have been retaliating to the gunfire by Pakistani troops. Reports inform that the mortar shelling has been reported on the forward posts and civilian areas along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. Reports inform that no casualty or damage has been reported so far. The Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire on Wednesday and Tuesday by resorting to firing along the LoC in Poonch. According to PTI, in 2018, there were nearly 1,600 incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan till October-end, the highest recorded in a year so far.
On January 1, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Poonch along the Line of Control in the border and targeted forward positions. However, no casualty or injury has been reported. The latest ceasefire violation comes just days after Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire in the Karmara area of Poonch district. In December 2018, the Indian Army had gunned down four militants in an encounter in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
