Jammu and Kashmir: Special Police Officer of J&K Police Injured in Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan in Shahpur & Kerni Sectors of Poonch
Pakistan on Saturday violated ceasefire in Shahpur and Kerni sectors of Poonch district at around 6 pm. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply.
Srinagar, March 9: A Special Police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was injured in the ceasefire violation in Shahpur and Kerni sectors of Poonch district of the state yesterday. Pakistan on Friday violated ceasefire at around 6 pm. The Indian Army gave a befitting reply. According to reports, Pakistan violated ceasefire by resorting to heavy shelling with artillery and firing of small arms.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the heightened cross-border shelling from Pakistan in the last few days, the Central Government on March 3 sanctioned additional 400 individual bunkers for Poonch and Rajouri districts. With the new order in place, the two districts will get 200 additional bunkers each.
Locals are of the opinion that the bunkers have proven to be an effective response to cross-border shelling from Pakistan. According to reports, the Government also directed the concerned officials to ensure speedy construction of these bunkers. The funds for bunkers will be given to the District Collectors through the Rural Development Department.
