Shopian, August 3: A terrorist has been killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Killora village of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The encounter broke out at around 9:30 pm today. The security forces have cordoned off the entire area. According to reports, a joint operation was carried out by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after receiving an information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

Earlier in the day, the security forces gunned down two terrorists at Drusu village in Sopore district . Indian army jawan Sawar Vijay Kumar also martyred in the encounter. Yesterday, two terrorists were also killed in an encounter that broke out in Kupwara, . The gunfight reportedly broke out in Khumriyal area of Lolab in Kupwara district, where a team of J&K's Special Operation Group (SOG) and the Indian Army launched a search operation to nab the suspected militants.

In 2018, around 120 terrorists have been killed by the security force in the Kashmir Valley, while more than 50 security personnel lost their lives. Terrorism in the valley has increased after the death of Hizbul Commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter in July 2016. The security forces have launched an ‘Operation All-Out’ to get rid of terrorism from the valley.
