Jammu And Kashmir: Three Terrorists Gunned Down in Shopian Encounter; Combing Operations Underway

A terrorist was neutralised by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

Shopian, May 16: Three terrorists were neutralised by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday. The encounter broke out after a joint team of Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group (SOG) of the JK police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operations this afternoon at Handew village of the district. Jammu and Kashmir Encounters: 6 Terrorists, 12-Year-Old Boy Killed in 3 Separate Gunfights.

Meanwhile, an Indian Army soldier was also reportedly injured in the gunfight. He was immediately rushed to the Army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar. However, the identity of the slain terrorists36 is still not known. The combing operations are underway in the area.

Earlier in the day, three terrorists were gunned down by the security forces in Pulwama's Dalipora area. One Army jawan was also martyred in the gun-battle. The martyred soldier was identified as Sandeep. The exchange of gunfire between the security forces and the terrorists continued for a little over three hours. One civilian also lost his life in the crossfire.
