Jammu, January 8: The security forces on Tuesday gunned down one terrorist during an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the encounter broke out after the terrorists attacked an army patrol party Pulwama during the early hours on Tuesday. Reports inform that the area has been cordoned off and internet services have been temporarily suspended.
According to reports, the army has recovered weapons from the site. The operation is still in progress. The encounter comes two days after a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained bullet injury in Pulwama. Reports inform that the jawan was injured in a fierce encounter between security forces and terrorists after a search operation was launched following specific information about the presence of militants in Aripal-Tantry Mohalla in Pulwama. In 2018, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, which is the highest in the past 15 years with an average of eight cases daily.
