Jammu and Kashmir: One Terrorist Gunned Down by Security Forces in Handwara, Arms and Ammunition Recovered

Reports inform that the incident took place in Handwara area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. According to a tweet by ANI, the terrorists attacked a police Naka party at Handwara.

Jammu, November 11: A terrorist was gunned down in a heavy exchange of firing between the security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports inform that the incident took place in Handwara area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. According to a tweet by ANI, the terrorists attacked a police Naka party at Handwara. According to details by J&K Police, the terrorist who was killed has been identified as Ishtiyaaq from Pakistan. Police informed that he was affiliated with terror outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed.  A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Police informed that heavy firing is currently underway in Handwara. Reports inform that the identity of the death is being ascertained. Police informed that the forces retaliated and in the shootout. On Saturday, two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Police informed that security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Tikken area of Pulwama in south Kashmir following specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. Earlier this week, one Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was killed by security forces after an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Tral. Several arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.

On Sunday, a senior army officer Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh said terror infrastructure in Pakistan remains intact and around 160 terrorists are waiting across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into Indian territory. According to a report by PTI, the senior Army officer said that cross-border terrorism will stop only if Pakistan changes its policy and intentions.
