Srinagar, June 30: The security forces on Sunday gunned down one terrorist in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a tweet by ANI, an exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces at Chadoora area of Budgam district was reported earlier in the day. The security forces launched a search operation after a tip-off over the presence of militants in the area. Mobile internet services have been suspended in Budgam. The attack comes on the same day when the first batch of annual Amaranth Yatra left for the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from Jammu. Jammu & Kashmir: Four Militants Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in Shopian.

According to details by Police, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bugam area of Budgam district in central Kashmir Sunday morning following specific inputs about the presence of militants there. An official said the militants fired upon them when the forces were conducting searches. "The forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter," the official added.

Earlier this month,  two terrorists, believed to be from Jaish-e-Mohammed group, struck in a busy road in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, killing five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and injuring three others. According to a report by PTI, the incident took place in broad daylight when motorcycle-borne terrorists fired at a CRPF patrol party at Khanabal-Pahalgham stretch.
