Jammu, July 27: One person has been killed in a blast that took place in Arnia sector near International Border in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, a total of six people have been injured in the blast. According to a preliminary investigation, it was an old shell which exploded.
The injured people have been rushed to the nearby hospital. The Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The incident comes a day after a militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara district.
On Thursday, an encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Handwara area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. Security forces launched a search operation in Check Sodul village in Handwara area following information about the presence of terrorists in the area, a police official said. Police informed that the search operation turned into a gun battle when the hiding militants opened fire on the security forces.
In a separate incident, four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in Anantnag district on Thursday afternoon. According to a report by ANI, the militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF bunker in Bijbehara’s Zerpora. The injured personnel were taken to a hospital and the area cordoned off.
