Jammu and Kashmir: One Army Jawan Martyred in Unprovoked Firing by Pakistan in Sunderbani Sector

According to a tweet by ANI, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Sunderbani sector around 9.45 am on Saturday. As per initial reports, one Army jawan was injured in the unprovoked firing by Pakistan but later succumbed to his injuries.

Jammu, November 10:  An Army jawan was martyred on Saturday in sniper fire during a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a tweet by ANI, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Sunderbani sector around 9.45 am on Saturday. As per initial reports, the jawan was injured in the unprovoked firing by Pakistan but later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the martyred soldier has not been revealed yet by the army.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, an unprovoked ceasefire violation was initiated by Pakistan in which a soldier was shot by a sniper who succumbed to his injuries. In another similar incident on Friday, an army porter identified as Deepak Kumar was killed in Pakistan sniper fire in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, two terrorists, belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were gunned down by security forces in Pulwama. According to details by SP Pani, IGP Kashmir, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the terrorists. Pani added that there was no collateral damage in the encounter.

In October, security forces had gunned down two intruders from Pakistan in a gunfight along the Line of Control in Sunderbani sector. The Indian Army had asked the Pakistan military to take back their bodies. According to a report by PTI, two heavily armed Pakistani intruders and three soldiers were killed in the gunfight. The intruders were believed to be members of a Border Action Team (BAT) comprising Pakistan Army jawans and trained militants, an Army officer said on condition of anonymity.
