New Delhi, December 24: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday decided to withdraw 72 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, The Centre will withdraw 24 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and 12 companies of Border Security Forces (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sashtra Seema Bal (SSB) each. After the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 was passed in Parliament on December 11, 10 companies of CRPF were moved from Jammu and Kashmir to Assam. Reports also surfaced that the MHA had cancelled the order of induction of seven CRPF Companies to Manipur on the operational ground and these Companies should be released to the Government of Assam for Law and Order duty on the arrival of the special train at Dimapur. The Narendra Modi government on August 5 scrapped the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by diluting Article 370. The state was also divided into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. After the move, the additional companies of the paramilitary forces were deployed in the region to maintain peace and law and order after the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status. According to the government, not even a single death has happened due to police firing in law and order related incidents.
