Jammu, September 25: A man was arrested in the Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday for allegedly killing his wife's minor brother. Reports inform that the accused, identified as Mohammad Qasim, was allegedly having an extra-marital affair. The deceased came to know about it and objected to the same. Following which, Qasim allegedly hit the minor with a blunt object and threw him in a pond. The incident took place on June 8 this year. The deceased was found dead in a pool on June 8, as per a report by the Hindustan Times. His parents expressed their suspicions that their son might have been murdered. An investigation was launched in the matter. During the probe, the police found out that the accused, who was married to the deceased's sister, was having an extramarital affair and the deceased asked him to mend his ways otherwise he would expose the accused. “The young boy had asked Qasim to mend his ways, else he would expose him. The accused, instead of mending his ways, hit him with a blunt object on his head and threw him in a pond,” said an officer as quoted by the HT. A case has been filed under section 302 (Punishment for Murder) of the IPC in the Mendhar police station. The police have arrested the accused in the matter.
