Jammu, August 14: In a shocking incident, three youths were brutally thrashed by few locals in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday for hoisting the national flag of India in Srinagar. According to a report by Kashmir Vision, the three non-locals belonged to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to reports, the incident took place at the Clock Tower, usually called as Ghanta Ghar in Srinagar's Lal Chowk area. The Police has, however, detained the men involved in the tiff. Media reports inform that while unfurling the national flag of India was opposed at many places across the state, flags of ISIS and Pakistan were openly flung.
According to details by eyewitnesses, people walking on the streets pounced on the three non-local men as they attempted to unfurl the flag in the area. A video that went viral on social media shows how the three men were brutally hit. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed in the market immediately came to their rescue.

According to the report, eyewitnesses informed that pro-freedom slogans reverberated in the area and police took the youth in custody. The youths have been detained at Kothibagh police station.

Earlier today, the Indian Army gunned down two Pakistani soldiers in the state’s Tangdhar sector in retaliation against ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). Reports said that the Pakistan Rangers had violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing in a bid to infiltrate terrorists in the Indian territory. "Indian Army gunned down two Pakistani soldiers last night in a retaliatory action to unprovoked ceasefire violations and repeated attempts to facilitate infiltration by Pakistan Army in Tangdhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district," Defence PRO informed.
On Tuesday, the government announced service decorations for a total of 942 state police and paramilitary personnel on the eve of the 72nd Independence Day. Two CRPF jawans from Kashmir who laid down their lives in the line of duty have been bestowed with country's top police gallantry medal. The CRPF was followed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police that has been accorded 37 PMsG.
