Jammu And Kashmir: Jaish-e-Mohammed Terrorist Arrested From Baramulla, Charged Under UAPA

Baramulla, February 4: In a major breakthrough for security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, an overground terrorist working for Pakistan terrorist outfit, Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) arrested in Baramulla today. The police recovered hand grenade and incriminating material from his possession. A case was under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). An investigation in the case is underway.

Last month, authorities declared Baramulla the first district of the state to have no surviving terrorist. A day after an encounter in which three terrorists were gunned down by security forces, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh had said that there was no surviving terrorist in the district of Baramulla as on date.

Earlier this month, Sopore police busted a JeM terror module and solved the grenade throwing case. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the case. This module was also responsible for the grenade attack at SBI camp of 179 BN CRPF in Sopore on January 25. According to reports, police first detained all the three accused on the basis of suspicion during the investigation into the Sopore attack.

During questioning, the three accused confessed to their crime, reported Greater Kashmir. Meanwhile, on January 31, terrorists lobbed a grenade near Shairbagh police station in Anantnag. Four civilians and one CRPF personnel have been injured in the attack. The mobile services were also jammed for a while in the area.
