Kupwara, August 4: Security forces on Sunday recovered 15 grenades from a tailoring shop in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The owner of the shop, identified as Parvez Khawaja, was arrested by the forces. Khawaja was arrested after an explosion took place inside his shop in the morning. A joint operation was carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army after the explosion was heard in the area. During the search operation, 15 hand grenades were recovered from the shop. J&K police are carrying out further investigation into the matter.
Grenades were recovered from Keran sector, a day after reports of the Indian Army foiling the infiltration attempt by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) surfaced in the media. Around five to seven Pakistani Army regulars or suspected terrorists were neutralised by the Indian security forces. According to reports, the Indian troops in retaliation to ceasefire violation attacked the Pakistan army posts using Bofors and killed at least five to seven BAT members. The Indian Army offered the Pakistan Army to take over the dead bodies of the infiltrators. The Pakistan Army has been offered to approach with a white flag and take over the dead bodies for last rites. However, Pakistan has not responded yet.
