Jammu and Kashmir: Indian Army Official Martyred in Pakistan Ceasefire Violation in Uri Sector

Srinagar, December 26: An Indian Army Subedar was martyred in the recent ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. According to a tweet by ANI, Indian Army responded to Pakistani ceasefire violations by responding with artillery and mortar fire. Reports informed that severe damage was inflicted upon Pakistan Army positions after Indian Army gave a befitting reply.
The tweet further informs that Pakistan Army has admitted that two of its soldiers were killed in the Dewa sector in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to reports, another ceasefire was reported during the day on Wednesday where an Indian Army soldier and a local resident were killed in Uri sector. The Army stated that the ceasefire violation took place at Shahpur and Kirni sectors in Poonch on Wednesday about 4 pm. Last week, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had said that the situation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir could escalate any time and that India is prepared for a befitting response.
On December 19, firing was reported from Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch after Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and the Indian Army retaliated. The Army said that Pakistan opened unprovoked fire with small arms and mortars in Mankote sector of Poonch and Indian troops were "retaliating befittingly".
