Jammu And Kashmir: Indian Army Foils Infiltration Bid In Kupwara District; Jawan Pushpendra Singh Martyred In Gunfight
An army jawan has lost his life as terrorists tried to infiltrate into the India side of Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.
Kupwara, August 13: An army jawan has lost his life as terrorists tried to infiltrate into the India side of Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. The gunfight broke after Indian security forces detected a suspicious movement along the LoC. The jawan has been identified as Pushpendra Singh. According to reports, the Indian Army has foiled the infiltration bid.
Singh was injured during the gunbattle early in the morning on Monday. He was airlifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries. The Army’s northern command through a tweet expressed condolences to the family of the martyr.
On August 7, four Indian Army soldiers including a major-rank officer were also martyred in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez sector. Four terrorists were also killed in the encounter. The gunbattle started after the army noticed a suspicious movement in Gurez area of North Kashmir close to Line of Control (LoC) during the night.
On August 4, five terrorists were killed in a joint operation carried out by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Shopian district. The forces acted after they received information about the presence of the terrorists in the area.
