Bandipora, January 14: Security forces on Monday arrested a terrorist affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen during checking in North Kashmir's Bandipora district. A joint operation was carried out by Jammu and Kashmir police and 13 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Indian Army at Ajas village of the district after receiving information about the presence of the terrorists in the area. The terrorist has been identified as Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheer, a resident of Quil Muqam village in Bandipora district. Indian Army Working as Peacekeepers in Jammu And Kashmir: General Bipin Rawat.
Sheer was active since October 2014. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad told media, “Arms and ammunition were recovered from a terrorist named Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheer of Hizbul Mujahideen this morning. He was active for the last five years in Kupwara, Sopore and Bandipora belt.”

Yesterday, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Wanted terrorist Zeenat-ul-Islam was among the two terrorists gunned down by security forces. Zeenat-ul-Islam, was associated with the terror group Al Badr and was considered as an improvised explosive device (IED) expert. The other terrorist killed in the encounter were identified as Shakeel Ahmed Dar.
