Jammu, January 5: Heavy firing is currently underway between security forces and militants in Aripal village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The area has been cordoned off. According to a tweet by ANI, troops of 180 BN CRPF, RR and Jammu and Kashmir Police are conducting cordon and search operations (CASO) in Aripal-Tantry Mohalla in Pulwama. Reports inform that a CRPF personnel has sustained bullet injury in the encounter. Soon after the searches were launched, internet service was blocked in Pulwama.
According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the security forces had received inputs about the presence of around three militants in the area and launched a search operation. The gunfight between the security forces and militants broke out after the hiding militants opened fire on a forces’ party. Earlier today, the Pakistani violated ceasefire intermittently in Poonch sector for over48 hours. According to a tweet by ANI, the security forces have been retaliating to the gunfire by Pakistani troops. Reports inform that the mortar shelling has been reported on the forward posts and civilian areas along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
Earlier this week, security forces gunned down two-three suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists after an encounter broke out in Gulshan Pora village of Tral belt in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Three soldiers were injured in the encounter.
