Srinagar, November 4: A civilian was reportedly killed and a dozen people were injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The grenade attack took place in a busy market area near Lal Chowk in Srinagar. Terrorists hurled a grenade in Hari Singh High Street market area at around 1:20 pm. Security forces have cordoned off the area. Among injured persons, the condition of four is critical. PoK in UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan in Ladakh in Fresh Map of India.
"The injured, most of them civilians, have been shifted to hospital for treatment as the area has been cordoned off for searches," police told news agency IANS. Footage on television showed a large security presence as the place was being sanitised. Last week, 19 people were wounded after terrorists lobbed a grenade at Iqbal Market near Sopore Bus Stand. The attack had taken place a day ahead of a visit of a delegation of Members of the European Parliament to the valley.
Prior to this incident, four personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in a grenade attack at Karannagar, Srinagar. Militants have been threatening shopkeepers, transport operators and other business establishments not to resume normal activities since August 5 when the central government withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's special status granted under Article 370.
