Sopore, October 28: Nineteen civilians were injured in a grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district on Monday afternoon. According to reports, terrorists lobbed a grenade near a bus stand in the district of security forces personnel. Till now there are no reports of any casualties in the attack. No terrorist group has claimed the responsibility for the attack. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. The security forces have cordoned off the entire area. The attack comes a day before a visit of the European Union (EU) delegation to the Kashmir Valley. The 28-member EU delegation met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. Today’s attack was the fifth such incident since August 5, the day when the Centre scrapped the special status of J&K. On October 26, A joint patrol party of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was attacked. The incident took place in Srinagar's Karan Nagar area, said initial reports. Six CRPF jawans have been injured in the attack.

Earlier this month, at least eight people were also injured in a grenade attack in a market place Srinagar. Reports had claimed that terrorists lobbed a grenade in Hari Singh High Street which exploded on the roadside, a few hundred metres from Lal Chowk.
