Srinagar, April 1: Security forces gunned down four terrorists of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba in an encounter on Monday in Lassipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. A huge cache of weapons, including two AK rifles and one Self-Loading Rifle, was recovered from terrorists' possession. The search and sanitization operation is still on in the area.
Following specific information about the presence of militants in Lassipora area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon the search party of the forces. Four terrorists were killed in the gunfight. On March 28, three terrorists, who have been identified as Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliates, were neutralised in an encounter by security forces in Keller area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. They were identified as Sajad Khanday, Aqib Ahmad Dar and Basharat Ahmad Mir. Incriminating materials including three AK rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. Over the past few days, a number of terror activities was seen in South Kashmir region.
On March 30, an explosion destroyed a car on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Banihal area, sparking panic and slightly damaging one of the CRPF vehicles moving as part of a convoy. Police said the explosion occurred inside a private car at Tethar area of the highway near Banihal town in Ramban district. The police confirmed there was no loss of life in the incident. It is worth mentioning that around 40 CRPF personnel were killed when a suicide bomber rammed into a convoy while moving from Jammu to Srinagar in Lethpora area of South Kashmir Pulwama district on February 14 around 3:15 pm. The Pakistan based terror outfit JeM claimed the responsibility of the attack.
