Sopore, September 4: Terrorists hurled a grenade at troops of D/177 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Sopore in North Kashmir. Four paramilitary soldiers sustained splinter injuries in the attack. The injured soldiers were shifted to a hospital for treatment. The terrorists attack CRPF patrol party at Sangrama chowk. The security forces have launched search operations to nab the terrorists.

It is not the first incident of grenade attack on security forces in the Kashmir Valley. On August 17, four civilians were injured in a grenade attack by terrorists on a police installation in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. The terrorists lobbed the grenade towards the main gate of the district police office which missed the intended target and exploded by the road.

In a similar type of attack on July 28, four CRPF personnel were injured. There has been an increase in incidents of grenade attacks on security forces in the last three months. Terrorist activities in the valley have increased in the Valley after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter in July 2016.
