Awantipora , July 28: Terrorists hurled a grenade at security forces in Jawbehra area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora district on Saturday evening. Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel of 130 battalion were reported to be injured in the attack and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to nab the terrorists. More details are still awaited.

In a similar type of attack on July 26, five CRPF jawans of 90 battalion were injured after terrorists lobbed a grenade at its bunker in Bijbehara's Zerpora. On July 25 two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in Anantnag, whereas earlier this week, three terrorists were gunned down by security forces Khudwani area of Kulgam district.

There is an increase in incidents of grenade attacks on security forces in the last two months. On July 9, terrorists also carried out two grenade attack on CRPF camp in Tral. However, local terrorism has also increased in the Kashmir Valley after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter in July 2016. In 2018, over 100 terrorists were killed in encounters with security forces in the valley, whereas close to 50 security forces lost their lives.
