Srinagar, November 7: Several flights from Srinagar Airport in Jammu and Kashmir were cancelled while several others were delayed due to fresh snowfall in the region. According to a tweet by ANI, two flights were cancelled on Thursday morning due to low visibility conditions. Moreover, the other flights were delayed due to congestion. The Jammu and Kashmir region has witnessed a fresh spell of snowfall on Wednesday. Several regions in Kashmi including Gulmarg and Sonamarg tourist resorts in Kashmir received first snowfall of the season on Wednesday.
Apart from the snowfall, the plains were lashed by rain, bringing down the mercury by more than 10 degrees. The change in weather brought cheers to the faces of the people who undertake tourism as tourist spots looked picturesque with fresh spells of snowfall. According to reports, the winter chill has set in early this year in Kashmir. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature during the last couple of days has settled a couple of degrees below normal for this time of the season, making it even more pleasant. Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh too witnessed fresh spells of snowfall of the season. Areas including Churdhar in Sirmaur district, Solang Nullah in Kullu district near Manali and several other areas received snowfall on Thursday. Meanwhile, the weather agency predicts rainfall and snowfall in the mountains of Uttarkashi.
