Jammu, November 9: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists Jammu and Kashmir's Tral on Friday afternoon. According to the latest update, one Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist has been gunned down by security forces and several arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot. As per reports, the security forces began a cordon and search operation in Darganie-Gund area in Tral which is in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to a report by Kashmir Life, the Army’s 42 RR, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and 180BN CRPF launched the operation jointly after the militant movement was detected in the area. Reports inform that a large number of forces have been deployed in the area and door-to-door search operation has begun following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there. The encounter comes two days after two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including an Army deserter, were killed in an encounter in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Soon after the encounter, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Safanagri area of Zainapora of south Kashmir. The operation was launched after receiving credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a police spokesperson said.

According to a report by ANI, In 2018, the security forces have gunned down as many as 200 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 30 were neutralised in October alone. In 2017, the security forces had killed 217 terrorists. The report further states that the security forces touched the 200-mark with the elimination of two terrorists, Amir Hussain and Idris Mir, on the eve of Diwali.
