Baramulla, August 20: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night. One or two terrorists are reported to be trapped in the area. Till now, there are no reports of any casualties or injuries. The Jammu and Kashmir police have cordoned off the entire area. Gun-battle is currently underway. It is reported to be the first gunfight between the Indian forces and terrorists after the Narendra Modi government scrapped the special status of the Jammu and Kashmir by diluting the Article 370. According to reports, the encounter broke out after the security forces conducted search operation in the area following information about the presence of terrorists.
Earlier in the day, an Army jawan was martyred in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir. Four other soldiers, including an Army officer were also injured. The cross-border firing began at around 11 am on Tuesday. The Indian Army retaliated strongly to Pakistan's aggression.
