Jammu And Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh Meets Governor Satya Pal Malik To Discuss Security Arrangement Ahead Of Urban Local Body Polls

Director General Of Police, Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh today met Governor of the state Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan for having a discussion on security arrangement in the valley for the upcoming local bodies and panchayat polls.

Srinagar, September 25: Director General Of Police, Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh today met Governor of the state Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan for having a discussion on security arrangement in the valley for the upcoming local bodies and panchayat polls. Singh was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Swayam Prakash Pani. During the meeting, the DGP briefed the governor on internal security situation and arrangements made for smooth conduct of the elections.

The municipal elections in the state will be held in four phases in October this year. The urban local body polls in the state will be conducted on October 8, October 10, October 13 and October 16. The counting of votes will take place on October 20 from 7 AM to 2 PM. Meanwhile, panchayat elections in the state will be held in nine phases, beginning from November 17 to December 11. The voting would be conducted through ballot papers. the votes would be counted on the day of polling.

Singh also visited South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Awantipora along with IGP CRPF Kashmir Zulfiqar Hasan and IGP Kashmir SP Pani on Tuesday. He chaired joint review meetings at all district headquarters to take stock of security scenario in the regions. Last week reports surfaced in the media that ten officers of J&K police had resigned following a threat from terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs denied these reports, calling them 'false propaganda by mischievous elements'.
