Jammu And Kashmir: Cops Arrest Decorated Officer Davinder Singh With Hizbul Terrorists Enroute Delhi
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested a decorated officer along with two terrorists while he was enroute New Delhi. The officer has been identified as DSP Davinder Singh who awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry on August 15 last year.
Srinagar, January 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested a decorated officer along with two terrorists while he was enroute New Delhi. He was travelling to Delhi and was detained while from a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway. The officer has been identified as DSP Davinder Singh who was awarded the President's Police Medal for Gallantry on August 15 last year.
According to police sources, the Deputy Superintendent of Police was held at Wanpoh in the Kulgam district with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Naveed Babu. Posted at he sensitive Srinagar International airport, Singh was travelling with Babu, who is accused for killing of 11 non-local workers -- truck drivers and labourers in south Kashmir -- in October and November 2019. The police informed that Babu's location was traced after he he made a phone call to his brother and was foundd travelling with DSP Singh. Babu is a Hizbul terrorist and was held with his accomplice Asif and DSP Davinder Singh, while he was travelling in a vehicle at Wanpoh.
Babu masterminded the series of killing on locals in Kashmir in an attempt to drive non-locals out of Kashmir and target Kashmir's apple industry, months after administration scrapped Article 370 from the Valley on August 5, 2019. Following the arrest of Singh, the police carried out multiple raids in Srinagar and South Kashmir. They claim to recover huge cache of arms and ammunition stashed by Singh and other terrorists, says a report by NDTV.
The local police even claim that they recovered an AK-47 rifle and two pistols from Davinder Singh's home in Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, while a AK rifle and a pistol were found on Naveed Babu's confession. It is to be known that Singh had applied for four days leave from Sunday onwards and was absent from Saturday.
