Jammu and Kashmir: Close Aide of SPO-Turned-Militant Adil Bashir Arrested in Pulwama, Arms Recovered

Pulwama, November 15: Jammu & Kashmir police and security forces today apprehended a terrorist of terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen at Lassipora-Achan Axis in Pulwama district. A Hizbul militant, identified as Rafeeq Ahmed Bhat, is said to be a close aide of Special Police Officer turned Militant Adil Bashir who looted seven rifles from the official residence of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir. Jammu and Kashmir: One JeM Terrorist Gunned Down by Security Forces in Tral, Encounter Underway.

Bhat was arrested from his uncle's residence in Achan village during the wee hours. Police have also recovered arms and ammunition from him. After his arrest, he was booked under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and a case was registered.

Earlier on November 9, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorist in Jammu & Kashmir. During the encounter, one Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was gunned down and several arms and ammunition were recovered from him. As per reports, the security forces began a cordon and search operation after the militant movement was detected in Darganie-Gund area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
