Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on August 7 reviewed arrangements for enabling people to perform Friday prayers and for the celebrations of the festival of Eid-ul-Azha in the coming week. According to news agency ANI, shops will also be opened on the occasion of Bakrid. The Governor has issued directions that Jammu and Kashmir students studying in other states should be facilitated to return to the Valley. As per reports, Rs 1 lakh each have been given to designated Liaison officers for organising festivities for students who are unable to return home. The governor has also directed authorities for setting up telephone lines in Deputy Commissioners’ offices for J&K students studying in other states so that they can talk to their families back home.
Earlier today, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who is stationed in Jammu and Kashmir after the Modi government scrapped special status from the state and divided it into two union territories, interacted with Kashmiris on Wednesday. A video of Doval’s conversation with locals in Shopian district also surfaced. He also ate lunch with them on the street of South Kashmir.
