Jammu And Kashmir: Army Soldier Martyred in Pakistan Sniper Attack Along LoC in Kupwara

The deceased jawan was identified as Subedar Gamar Thapa.

Srinagar, December 21: An Army soldier was martyred in a sniper attack by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Jumgund area along the LoC. The deceased jawan was identified as Subedar Gamar Thapa. Another soldier, Subedar Raman Thapa, was also injured in the sniper attack.

The injured soldiers were rushed to a military hospital in Drugmulla where Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Subedar Gamar Thapa succumbed to injuries. He was 42. "Another injured officer has been shifted to army's base hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment," sources said, as reported by IANS.

The Indian Army retaliated to the ceasefire violation. Further details were awaited.
