Srinagar, August 2: Hours after ordering the pilgrims of the annual Amarnath Yatra, along with tourists in the Valley, to return immediately on Friday, Srinagar Airport Director has called a meeting of Special Airport Security Committee after security advisory issued by Government of Jammu & Kashmir. This major development arrived soon after Centre deployed 38,000 extra troops in the Valley.

Briefing about the security situation in the Valley, the Army issued a press conference, claiming that they have received credible intelligence inputs of a Pakistan ploy to carry out fatal terror attacks in the route of Amarnath Yatra. Soon after the press briefing, the government announced the suspension of the pilgrimage and issued security advisory.

In the advisory, the state government ordered the pilgrims and tourists in J&K, stating "that they may curtail their stay in the Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible". Security Advisory Issued by J&K Administration:

Earlier in the day, Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon, while briefing a press conference confirmed inputs that neighbour Pakistan is responsible for the disruptions. He even mentioned that Indian security forces have recovered mines and ammunition on the Amarnath route and claimed the Pakistani Army is involved in terrorism in Kashmir.

Though J&K Police, however, have denied the speculation that the increased military deployment is aimed at countering unrest in wake of the rumoured plan to withdraw Article 35-A, increased security has become an issue of talk among the countrymen. Amarnath Yatra 2019: Pakistani Army Trying to Disrupt Peace in Kashmir and Target Sacred Route, Says Indian Army

"We're getting inputs that violence levels are likely to be increased by militants. So, we've tried to strengthen the grid on the ground. Also, we've been told that troops must get time to relax. This is the time for turnover. But grid will be in as much active form as required," said Dilbag Singh, DG JK Police.
