Shopian, June 27: In a sad incident, at least 11 passengers, including nine girls, died in a major accident after their vehicle fell into a deep gorge near Peer Ki Gali in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
According to the police officials, the incident took place when a tempo traveller on way to Shopian from Poonch skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Lal Ghulam area. The police officer stated that all the students - of a private computer institute - from Surankote were on their way to Kashmir valley for a picnic when the mishap took place.
Adding more information, the police officer stated that though the rescue team immediately rushed to the spot, and admitted six among the injured passengers in SMHS hospital in Srinagar. All these injured students received initial treatment at district hospital Shopian prior to being sent to Srinagar.
