In the violence which ensued during the Jamia protests on Sunday, four buses of DTC were set ablaze by the miscreants and scores of other vehicles were left vandalised. In retaliation, the police resorted to lathi charge and fired teargas shells.

The Delhi Police came under flak after the riot control squad personnel barged inside the Jamia campus and reportedly launched an indiscriminate crackdown against the students and staff members. Protesting the police brutalities, Jamia Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar registered an FIR and demanded a judicial inquiry.

Two days after the Jamia violence, Delhi was once again gripped under violent demonstrations after miscreants - who were part of a demonstration being taken out in Seelampur area - pelted stones on security personnel and buses, and also gutted down two police booths.
