New Delhi, December 20: Amid ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), students of Jamia Millia Islamia University on Friday offered roses to Delhi Police personnel. The heartwarming video of the incident is shared by news agency ANI. In the video, it can be seen that students approached the cops deployed for security outside the university and handed over flowers. The protesters asked the Delhi police to support them in the protest against the CAA. Even on Thursday, students of the university offered roses to Delhi Police personnel. Yesterday, images also surfaced on social media, in which Delhi police personnel offered refreshments to detained protesters at Surajmal Stadium and Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Bawana. Protests against the controversial act intensified across the country after Delhi police’s action against students of the Jamia Millia Islimia University. In the police action, dozens of students and some cops sustained injuries. Cops reportedly entered the university campus and detained several students. Responding to the allegations of using force against the students, the police said that they only acted to control the situation. Widespread protests rocked the nation after the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019.
