Hyderabad, December 16: Students' union of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University or MANUU has written a letter to authorities stating that they are boycotting examinations in protest against violence at the Jamia Millia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The union further sought postponement of examinations. Protests broke out at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University late on Sunday night after students alleged violence by police at the Jamia Millia Islamia University and AMU.

"Due to protests by MANUU students against police's attack on Jamia&AMU students, MANUU students are boycotting exams and request you to postpone the same," students' union stated in its letter to the controller of examination of the varsity. Students Protesting at Maulana Azad National Urdu University:

They set ablaze effigies of the government and raised slogans against the Delhi police. Students' union of the MANUU had planned a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act for Monday. However, violence at the Jamia Millia Islamia University made them come out late on Sunday night. Four public buses and two police vehicles were burnt down allegedly by protesters during protests by Jamia students.

Following the arson on roads, police entered the varsity campus and allegedly assaulted students even to those who were not part of protests. Police used batons and teargas shells to disperse the crowd, but denied firing at them. Nearly 60 people including students, cops and firefighters were injured.
