New Delhi, December 23: A student of Jamia Millia Islamia used her marriage to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). A postgraduate student at the Jamia Millia Islamia University, Amina Zakiah, lives in the Abul Fazl Enclave locality, reported The Hindustan Times. The wedding took place on Monday. The student said that she was part of the protests and had participated in the agitations which took place two days before her marriage as well.
The bride said that she used her marriage as a platform to highlight the issue of CAA and NRC. She said that the idea came to her as she could not participate in the anti-CAA and NRC protests due to her marriage. The student then decided to use her marriage as a platform to protest.
The family members of the bride had taken the permission of the groom. The groom's family readily agreed to the idea and said that they support the girl's idea.
The family members of the bride as well as the groom held anti-CAA and anti-NRC placards on the marriage stage. Posters of revolutionary poets such as Habib Jalil and Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Pakistani poet Habib Jalil is known for his songs and poems of dissent.
