Tamil Nadu, January 17: Jallikattu competition was held in Alanganallur town of Madurai district today. More than 700 bulls participated in the competition. Police personnel comprising of 2,000 people were deployed for security. On Thursday, as many as 30 participants were injured during the Jallikattu competitions in Madurai's Palamedu in Tamil Nadu.
Six people were injured during the competition and were admitted to Rajaji Hospital for treatment. The annual bull-taming sport kicked off at Avaniyapuram in Madurai on Wednesday with the start of the Pongal festival. Jallikattu will be held till January 31 in the state. A total of 730 bulls in Avaniyapuram, 700 bulls in Alanganallur and 650 bulls in Palamedu are participating in Jallikattu competitions this year.

Over the next few days, the annual festival of 'Jallikattu,' will be held in several parts of Tamil Nadu. The bull-taming sport began on January 15 and will continue till January 31 in several parts of the southern state.
