Mumbai, June 22: In a shocking incident in Maharashtra, a mob allegedly attacked a police station in Jalgaon on Thursday, June 20, while demanding the custody of a man arrested on charges of rape and murder. A mob of over 600 villagers attacked the Jamner police station in Jalgaon district while seeking custody of a ma who allegedly raped and killed a six-year-old girl.
According to a report in the Times of India, a total of 15 police personnel were injured after the angry mob attacked the police station in Maharashtra's Jalgaon. The mob not only attacked the police station but also pelted stones while protesting against the rape and killing of the minor girl. Ashok Nakhate, additional superintendent of police, said that of the 15 injured policemen, six were admitted to a hospital. While the condition of the injured policemen is said to be stable, one of them suffered a fracture in his hand. Police officials said that the accused whose custody the mob sought was arrested on charges of raping and killing a minor girl.
It is reported that the accused raped and killed the minor girl after luring her to come along with him for a toffee on Tuesday, June 11. After this, the accused took the victim to a nearby banana plantation field, where he raped and strangulated her to death. However, they found her body in the farm around 11 pm on the same day. Meanwhile, the police have arrested 15 people for attacking the police station and violence.
