Jaishankar Says 'I Have No Interest in Meeting US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal' Citing Her Reports on Kashmir Issue

After meeting with Canadian PM, EAM Jaishankar thanked PM Justin Trudeau for a cordial meeting. He added, "We agreed to raise the quality of our relationship and chart a path for the next 5 years. Will also work closely in the global arena."

New Delhi, December 20: Commenting on reports that India cancelled meeting with US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal citing her reports on Kashmir issue, Jaishankar said, " Don't think it(report) is fair understanding of the situation in J&K or fair characterization of what Govt of India is doing. I have no interest in meeting her."

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar shared India's perspective on the Citizenship Amendment Act with the leadership at Senate. He said, "They wanted my perspective on the CAA, I gave them a more accurate picture than what they have been reading'. He further mentioned about his meeting with US President Donald Trump. "There was a discussion on trade, I shared with him what was discussed at 2+2 dialogue. In some meetings, I also emphasised that flow of talent from India should not be affected and no unreasonable legislative provisions should constrain that", said Jaishankar.
