New Delhi, April 3: Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Nisar Ahmed Tantray, a key conspirator in the 2017 attack on a CRPF camp at Lethpora in Jammu and Kashmir, has been deported to India from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As soon as he landed at the Delhi airport Sunday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took him into custody. Nisar Ahmed Tantray had fled away to UAE on February 1 this year.
A special of an NIA court had issued an arrest warrant against Nisar Tantray, which facilitated his deportation from UAE. Nisar had been absconding since the 2017 attack on a CRPF camp. Five CRPF personnel were killed after Jaish-e-Mohammed militants attacked the camp. The probe was handed over to the NIA who managed to zero in on his location following which the Indian government pursued the matter with UAE authorities for his deportation. Nisar is a brother of Noor Mohammed Tantrey, alias 'Noor Trali', who is believed to have helped the terror group's revival in the Kashmir Valley. Noor Tantray was killed in December 2017. Apart from Nisar, three other terrorists involved in the Lethpora attack were identified as Fardeen Ahmed, Manzoor Baba and Abdul Shakoor. They were killed by security forces after the attack. Fardeen and Manzoor were residents of South Kashmir's Pulwama, while Abdul Shakoor was a Pakistani national. The NIA had identified Faiyaz Ahmed from Pulwama as the mastermind of the Lethpora attack. He was arrested by NIA on February 4. According to the NIA, Faiyaz had provided shelter to Fardeen, Manzoor and Shakoor, and all kind of logistic support.
