Jaipur, July 6: Five days after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Jaipur’s Shastri Nagar locality, Rajasthan police on Saturday arrested the accused from Kota. The 35-year-old accused has been identified as Sikandar alias Jivanu. He was brought to Jaipur late in the night. Violence in Jaipur After Rape Of 7-Year-Old Girl, 16 People Arrested.

According to a report published in The Hindu, Sikander was nabbed when he went to meet an acquaintance in Bhimganj Mandi area of Kota. Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava told reporters that Sikander was also convicted of unnatural sex and murder of an 11-year-old boy in 2004 and was awarded life imprisonment. He was released from jail in 2015

As per police, after his release, he allegedly committed several crimes, including molestation of two minor girls in Bhatta Basti area of Jaipur in 2017. Cases of theft of motorcycles, heist at shops and attack on a police officer were also registered against Sikander, reported The Hindu. Uttar Pradesh: Minor Raped for Six Months in Bulandshahr District, Man Arrested.

The seven-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by Sikander on July 1. He then took her to a secluded pace and after raping her dumped her near her house. The girl was admitted to Sir Padampat Mother and Child Hospital in Jaipur where her condition improved. After the incident, violence erupted in the city. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot met the rape survivor on Thursday. The Rajasthan government also sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the girl’s family.
