Jaipur Bomb Blast Case: Four Accused Found Guilty by Special Court, One Acquitted

Four out of five accused in Jaipur bombing case has been convicted by a Special Court. On May 13, 2008, synchronized bomb blasts took place in Jaipur in which 71 people were killed and more than 180 people were injured in a series of blasts at eight places.

Jaipur, December 18: Four out of five accused in Jaipur bombing case has been convicted by a special court in Jaipur. On May 13, 2008, synchronized bomb blasts took place in Jaipur in which 71 people were killed and more than 180 people were injured in a series of blasts at eight places. The bombing shocked the entire country and resulted in widespread condemnation from leaders across the world. A detailed investigation led to the identification of the accused- Shahbaz Hussain, Mohammad Saif, Mohammad Sarwar Azmi, Saifur Rahman and Mohammad Salman. However, other three accused Sajid Bada, MD Khalid, and Sharan are still absconding. Additionally, other accused- Asadullah Akhtar, Aariz and Ahamad Siddhi are lodged in Tihar Jail.

Today's judgement comes after an examination of 1,293 witnesses. The first arrest in the case was made after three months of bomb blast when Shahbaz Hussain was arrested. Police had tracked down his email, which he had sent claiming responsibility of the blasts.

In the case, eight First Information Report (FIR) are registered and four charge sheet has been filed against the five accused under various section of Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Substances Act and the prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
